General Overview of Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years on both humans and animals. It the process of inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body in order to achieve a desired effect. Modern research has shown that the stimulation of these points can lead to the release of endorphins, serotonin and other neurotransmitters in the body. It is a very safe procedure that should only be performed by a qualified practitioner. Most sessions last from 45-90 minutes, with first sessions taking longer to allow for a thorough history and examination. While some results are seen during and after the initial visit, it typically takes 3-5 visits about 1-2 weeks apart before any change in condition can be expected.
